Sports Massage in Leeds
We are a leading Sports massage & Deep tissue massage practice located in the heart of Leeds city centre on the infamous Call Lane. It was opened in 2014 by Ant Varenne with the aim of in 3 years to be one of the “leading massage practices” in Leeds and we are very happy to be able to say we have achieved that.
In addition to this for the Leeds 2019 ITU series Triathlon we were in charge of massaging the TEAMUSA Elite. A fantastic experience and we are lucky enough to say one of our athletes came 2nd and another came 4th.
Circle 8 massage combine Personal Training, Corrective Exercise and Advanced massage qualifications together meaning we have a very in depth understanding of the human body. Here at Circle8 we can treat you differently to other sports massage practitioners because we really understand how the body moves and works.
Therefore when you come for a massage at Circle8 we don’t just treat your issue and send you away, we find out exactly which movements and muscles are causing it, explain to you what’s actually happening, give you exercises in the gym and at home that you can do to help alleviate and eventually get rid of your issue. We will even explain to you the best way to sleep, how many pillows to use and even how to place pillows to support your body correctly as you sleep.
Circle 8 Massage offer a variety of treatments, we have your more traditional treatments such as Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage which apply a “positive pressure” to your muscle tissue.
These treatments involve a range of hands-on techniques and positional release techniques to help relieve your muscles of aches, pains and injuries which could be caused by anything from training to hard in the gym to being hunched over a desk all day.
We also have our more “out there” treatments which is Cupping Therapy and Hypervolt Therapy. Cupping therapy provides a “negative pressure” to your muscle tissue which is great if an area is to painful to apply actual pressure or you have a low pain threshold. See our Blog What are the Benefits of Cupping where you can find out everything you need to know about this treatment.
Hypervolt Therapy is the newest form of treatment within the massage world. It is basically a hand held percussion device used to stimulate and warm up muscle tissue. These expensive little devices are great for pre/post workout and great prior to a deeper massage to warm everything up.
In addition to the above treatments we also provide the finest after-care possible, we won’t go in to too much detail but book a massage and you will find out first hand!
Circle 8 Massage also has a little coup de grâce because all of our therapists are accredited with the Federation of Holistic Therapists meaning if you have a private health insurance policy or health insurance with work, you could be able to claim back the full cost of the massage treatment.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension.
Sports massage uses a variety of pressure and techniques (often deeper, more intense and focused than in a deep tissue massage) to speed up a persons recovery time and help prevent injury.
CBD Oil Massage
CBD Oil has loads of benefits from reducing inflammation to relieving stress and anxiety, so combined with a Sports Massage or Deep tissue massage it can work even more wonders!
Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin.
The Hypervolt is a lightweight battery powered vibration massage device that helps relax sore and stiff muscles to help improve mobility.
Kinesio tape (or K-Tape) is an elasticated sports tape that is designed to provide support whilst also relieving pain. As with all taping methods it does not treat the cause of the injury, however it will help to alleviate the symptoms.
what length should i choose?
Here at our Leeds city centre massage practise we have a treatment for everyone and below are just some examples.
30 minute massage – Great for a small area like neck and shoulders, or the front or back of your legs.
45 minute massage – Plenty of time for a full upper or lower body massage.
60 minute massage – Gives us plenty of time to do a full body, or a far more in depth massage of a certain area.
At the end of every massage we will advise you on ways to improve your posture and also demonstrate and recommend certain exercises and stretches which we feel would help.
This massage therapy is a highly beneficial way to alleviate persistent or sporadic severe aches and pains, general soreness, stiffness in your upper/lower back, shoulders, legs and neck or muscle tightness. A deep tissue massage session has some similarities to the more well-known Swedish massage, but the primary difference is the level of pressure applied during the session. A Swedish massage focuses on using light pressure, which will normally leave you feeling relaxed.
Whereas, the aptly named massage therapy consists of the masseur applying firm and pressure with their hands. Another difference is that the therapist will mainly make slow, careful strokes with their fingers to locate the deeper layers of fascia and muscle in your body. When the firm pressure is applied correctly, it will allow the muscles to release chronic tension, and/or generally removing the pressure (or small knots) in your joints and muscles.
Although deep tissue therapy is different from our more relaxing options at Circle8Massage, our lovely massage therapists will communicate with you before, during and after the session. As we’ve noted a deep tissue massage consists of much firmer techniques and pressure, but it doesn’t mean that you will not be comfortable as we will adjust the pressure accordingly. On the other hand, if you found that your session was still too “light” we also provide a sports massage therapy session, which may be more beneficial if you require “deeper” muscle work.
The Possible Benefits
Typically, a deep tissue therapy session will focus on one issue or area of your body at a time as this ensures the most beneficial outcome. Since the sole focus of a deep tissue massage is to locate the deep-rooted tendons, muscle tissue and fascia* it is a way to realign muscles as well as relieving many pain related issues, such as:
Lower/Upper back, neck and shoulder pain (persistent or sporadic)
Reduce stress (it can lower the stress hormone levels in your body, regulate your heart rate, and it also boosts your mood by releasing the “happy” chemical, aka serotonin)
Improves any issues with your posture
…and many more! If you feel that a deep tissue massage in Leeds City Centre is just what you need, then why don’t you speak to one of us at Circle8Massage today?
At Circle8Massage we have helped tons of clients to alleviate issues with their muscles or joints, as well as making their chronic pain more manageable. If you’re feeling stiff, sore and tense from work, whether it’s because you sit at a desk or driving a lot, then perhaps a deep tissue massage at Circle8Massage Leeds is just what the doctor ordered!
